The National Wildlife Federation is headquartered in Reston, Virginia, a growing suburb of Washington, D.C., and also the very first Certified Community Wildlife Habitat in the state of Virginia. I recently got a phone call from the folks at Reston Association— the municipal body that oversees the city’s maintenance of natural lands and offers services — about a surprise visitor: a red-shouldered hawk.
Watch and enjoy! Then, take the Community Wildlife Habitat message of making room for wildlife back to your own city, town or neighborhood leaders.
